Spirit of ’72
For football season, Liquor.com asked a bartender from each NFL team's hometown to create the perfect cocktail to represent their team. The Spirit of '72 by Seth Weinberg represents the Miami Dolphins and pays homage to their undefeated 1972 season. “A classic Margarita, much like the 16–0 1972 Miami Dolphins, can be quite simply perfect,” says Weinberg, who is the lead bartender at StripSteak by Michael Mina at Fontainebleau Miami Beach. “The team still gets together every season for a Champagne toast to their still-standing record.” This drink is a variation on a Margarita, but with a Miami twist, that pairs reposado tequila with blue curaçao, orange juice, pineapple juice, lime juice and jalapeño agave syrup. “Fresh Florida juices and spicy agave nectar are the perfect complement to the bold flavors of aged tequila,” says Weinberg. “Much like the Dolphins newly augmented stadium, this cocktail is cool, modern and refreshing, the perfect drink to sip while cheering the Miami Dolphins onto victory.”

Directions

  1. Add the tequila, blue curaçao, orange juice, pineapple juice, lime juice and jalapeño agave syrup into a shaker with ice and shake until well-chilled.
  2. Strain into a rocks glass over ice, and garnish with an orange peel cut into the shape of a dolphin.
